Ingela was born and raised in the suburbs of Stockholm and trained as an actress at East 15 Acting School in the late 1990s. Since graduating she has worked as an actress and director in the UK, Italy, Denmark and Sweden, working with different cultures and training methods in both English, Italian and Swedish.
In the UK Ingela toured nationally with Oddsocks Productions and Forest Forge playing characters like Titania and Helena in A Midsummernight’s Dream and Ophelia in Hamlet. In 2003 she returned to her native Sweden to make her debut as Helena in Den första hösten by Astrid Trotzig at The Royal Dramatic Theatre (Dramaten). In Denmark she has worked with the theatre company Anemoneteatret and performed in productions for The State Drama School (Statens teaterskole).
In Sweden Ingela has continued to work in both theatre and TV as well as a voice-over artist both in Swedish and English. She has given her voice to several commercials and audio books and acted as a live English interpreter for Ingmar Bergman’s last production, Ibsen’s ‘Ghosts’, in its guest performance at The Barbican.
Ingela is also co-founder and co-artistic director of SEST, The Stockholm English Speaking Theatre founded in 2010. Since the start, she has performed in several of SEST’s productions including Anna in David Mamet’s Boston Marriage, Anette in God of Carnage and Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing at the open-air theatre Parkteatern, drawing an audience of thousands of Stockholmers.
Since 2008 Ingela has collaborated with ballet dancer and choreographer Bétina Marcolin. Together they have created 2 performances aimed for children: Mormor Pirat and H.C Andersen’s The Pig Boy, headlining the children’s festival at 17th century theatre Confidencen in Stockholm as well as touring nationally in Sweden.
Ingela also works as a director and assistant director, where her credits include the dance- and opera performance Divertimenti di Confidenza and Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice at Confidencen as well as the entertainment of the 2013 Nobel Banquet with opera Trio Divine, broadcast live in Eurovision.
Since 2015 Ingela works freelance as a voice and dialect coach and communications consultant with clients in both the private and public sector including the Swedish Parliament and The Royal Swedish Opera.
In 2018 Ingela was awarded Best Supporting Actress for her role as ‘Rose’ in Sinking at the Madrid International Film festival. She is currently featuring in Swedish tv-series ‘Gåsmamman’, ‘Helt Perfekt’, ‘LIMBO’ ‘Agenterna’ and ‘BECK’.
In 2021 Ingela wrote and performed the stage monologue ‘Wilde Times!’ at Ö2 Scenkonst in Stockholm. The production will tour Sweden and beyond from 2022.
